   DANIEL MOULT
The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire has announced that Daniel Moult has now become Head of Organ, succeeding Henry Fairs who remains a permanent member of the Conservatoire staff. Part of Birmingham City University, the new building opened last year and includes a purpose-built organ studio.

Daniel Moult is also recording for Fugue State Films a history of the English organ that will be released as a multi-DVD boxed set. He is being filmed in a programme of major works by a host of English composers performed on a selection of organs representing all the best and most important English organ builders.

OUP has signed a publishing agreement
with David Bednall, composer, organist of Bristol University and sub-organist at Bristol Cathedral. Novello has signed a publishing agreement with Richard Allain who has written for the choir of King’s College, Cambridge, St Paul’s Cathedral choir and Commotio, and whose Ubi caritas features on Classic FM. Both composers have had selected works issued by their publishers over recent years, but both are now exclusively represented. > www.davidbednall.com/

HYMN WRITING COMPETITION
November 2018 will mark 100 years since Armistice Day and the end of World War One. Jubilate is launching a national competition to find a new Hymn of Peace for churches to sing at Remembrance services and throughout this centenary year. The competition is open to UK hymn writers, published or unpublished, and entries will be judged anonymously. Standalone hymn texts (which will be set
to a new or existing tune) and complete hymns (words and music) may be submitted. The winning hymn will be published and
widely publicized by Jubilate. It will be sung in both York Minster and St Paul’s Cathedral at their centenary services and recorded and released as a single. The submission deadline is 6 April 2018.
