RSCM and CMT Announce the 2024 Church Choir Awards
The Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) and the Cathedral Music Trust (CMT) are delighted to announce the recipients of this year’s Church Choir Awards. The Church Choir Award, a partnership between the two organisations and now in its third year, is funding far-reaching initiatives at parish churches – from supporting projects that offer pathways to choral singing for more young people, to singing lessons for choir members and the introduction in one church of midweek services.
The seven choirs will all receive a year’s Group Membership of the RSCM and access to our groundbreaking Voice for Life Digital resources alongside funding and professional support from CMT.
John Halsey, Trustee of the RSCM and member of the panel, said:
“As ever, the experience of judging these applications is quite simply inspiring. Very well done to the successful applicants, and to the many others who didn’t win this year, but who are nevertheless doing great work. Thousands of churches would benefit from studying the methods used by the winning choirs, and publicity on this will follow from both CMT and RSCM.”

“We’re delighted to receive this award which will pay for an extra Choir Trainer to work alongside our Director of Music. It means that we can extend our outreach programme to two more primary schools, expand our newly formed junior choir and develop a new all-age choral service.” The Revd Joe Moffatt, All Saints Church Kingston upon Thames.
“This award will contribute significantly towards the Charter 2025 festival, stimulating choral singing across the community and leading to the establishment of a permanent Key Stage 1 choir. This choir, drawing from local primary schools, will establish a route into the church choir and the opportunity to sing wonderful music.” David Matthews, Churchwarden, St Mary le Tower, Ipswich.
